I know, I know, NO ONE *needs* a new cutter. But … this one looks so cool!!! Not only does it come in PURPLE , it doesn’t have any length limitations, it doesn’t need cutting mats (which, let’s be honest, are a pain), and runs on a (rechargeable) battery so it’s easily portable. Oh, AND, there’s an app for iPhone/iPad users!

Most Influential Scrapbookers?!!

Last week I followed Bella magazine’s “Most Influential Scrapbookers” with interest (and also tried to win one of their prizes, to no avail). What do you think of their list? I thought it was … interesting. A clear slant toward digital, but with weird throwbacks (Jenni Bowlin???) thrown in for good measure. Some it’s hard to argue with, but some were more … interesting. And, whoa, some big omissions, too!

Soooo, after a (very) long hiatus, I thought we might try to revive this blog a bit. Now that we’re not getting together at conventions so often, I miss having contact with everyone! Hopefully we can use this as a forum to stay connected, in the scrapbook world. I know a number of us are on Facebook, but this can be more specific to scrapbook-related things. So many times I see a new product or a cool layout that reminds me of our group, and I wonder what you guys would think. Miss you guys!

So, here goes nuttin’ …

I’ve been experimenting with digi (!) lately … anyone else dabbling in that? So far just exploring, I need to get WAY better with Photoshop. I am thinking of taking one of Jessica Sprague‘s classes, I feel like I need more structure than just playing around on my own. I have done an intro digi class at BPS, and want to move beyond the basics.

Also, am thinking of using the new BPS summer fest next month (39 projects in 13 days!) to get back into the swing of scrappin’ regularly. Anyone else doing that? August is a really busy month for me, but I am hoping these projects will be inspirational and will help me de-stress by being creative!

Wow…we are really quite. Hope everyone is doing well. I’ve ‘almost’ caught up from my vacation week.

It is still HOT here. Today will probably be another record breaker. Hopefully it will end soon. I know ya’ll are getting it to.

I have a NEW scrap subject……Franklin and Tara got engaged while we were at the beach. Frank and I are very please and happy for Franklin. She is a wonderful girl. I didn’t get pictures of the actual engagment but they did dress up and let me take pictures on the beach.

The will probably marry in June. She will finish school in May. They haven’t set a date or even decided where to marry.

Did ya’ll read on Heidi Swapp’s blog that she is moving to China (with family) for a year. She does say she’ll be back for Scrap etc. but it is pretty interesting to read. How in the world will she keep up with her committments? Boggles my mind.

I really looking forward to our time at the Scrap House is November! Angie have fun at Bristol this weekend. Sabrina are you helping out at CKU? Lelsie did you take ‘choosing joy’ at BPS? If so how was it? I’m considering it.

Hope to hear from everyone soon….miss you all!

I registered for Lynn and me (Lynn’s on her way to Florida right now). Yay! I’m excited, I really had fun last year. And I think staying at the Scrap House will make it even more fun.

Who else is going? It’s nice that they’re offering an early-bird discount!

Monday Memories (Yes, I know it’s Friday!)

Leslie asked me to post a Monday Memories question. I have been meaning to join in and answer the questions when they are posted on Mondays, but I keep forgetting!

Okay, on to the topic - Vacations. Do you have a favorite vacation memory from childhood? Where do you like to vacation now?

I remember going to the Memphis zoo when I was 8 or 9 and thinking it was the coolest thing ever! My family had an aunt and uncle that lived in Georgia and we would visit them a couple times a year. What I really liked about visiting them was that we got to fish in their pond - it was stocked with catfish, so you always caught something.

I don’t know that I have a favorite vacation spot right now. There are several places that I want to go – San Fransisco, Vermont in the fall, the Amazon rainforest (this one is really slipping way down on my list though, the older I get. The thought of all those bugs, snakes and mosquitoes just doesn’t seem quite as appealing as it once did)

Monday Memories: CHA?!!

I know this is a couple of hours early, but has anyone heard any good stuff about CHA? It seems like there has been less hype over this one than some of the previous ones. Apparently felt is the new hot thing, but I’m skeptical about how much I will use it. My question to you is – what have you seen/heard about that looks like a new must-have?

I’ve seen a few things that looked cool: the new Playlist line by Imagination Project (which reminds me of our 1st Monday Memories question). They’re already selling this line on their website! I also like the new products from Luxe Designs – I can definitely see myself actually using a lot of these on layout. And I really liked the new Pop Culture line from KI Memories, especially the LACE PAPER.

Monday Memories…

Sorry I didn’t get this posted earlier today…

My mom is a gardener…as was my grandfather. I’ve tried my hand at it but my yard is too shady. My mom has 7 or 8 tomato plants this year. The week of July 4, we picked 35 lbs of tomatoes…The were unbelievable! To me there is nothing better that a tomato sandwich.

Two questions this week-

Do you peel tomotoes or leave it on? I peel for slicing leave on for salads.

What’s your favorite fresh summer food? I love tomatoes…and watermelon!
